Before you send your emails to our technical questions, please read the Online Help File and the FAQs first. Please read the following ASPI know-how if your DVD or CD writer is not recognized by DVD Burning Xpress.

I. ASPI stands for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface and was developed by Adaptec (http://www.adaptec.com). ASPI is a hardware driver which is used by most of the programs which have to communicate with hard disks or CD-ROM drives directly. If DVD Burning Xpress cannot recognize your DVD or CD writer (usually external USB DVD or CD writer), please follow the steps listed below to install ASPI on your system: I. If the program cannot recognize your DVD or CD writer and you are running DVD Photo Slideshow on Windows NT/2000/XP, please download WnAspi32.Dll from http://www.dvd-photo-slideshow.com/wnaspi32.dll and save it to the set up folder of DVD Burning Xpress(Normally it is at folder of C:\Program Files\ DVD Burning Xpress).

II. If your problem persists, please continue with the following:

  1. Click here to download the ASPI Driver version 4.71.

  2. Run the downloaded file aspi_v471.exe on your system.

Select the folder where you want to extract the files to (c:\adaptec\aspi in this example) and press the Unzip button.

  1. Unpack the aspi471.ZIP (it will appear after the previous step).

The following files will be available after you have unzipped aspi471.zip:

  1. If you use Windows 98, NT 4.0, Me or 2000:

Run ASPIINST.EXE file to install the ASPI layer -
When the installation has finished, reboot the system in order to enable the ASPI driver .

  2. If you use Windows XP:

Select Start then Run from the start menu, and then the Browse button.

Locate the INSTALL.BAT file in the directory where the files were extracted to, then select the OPEN button and add XP32 to the command line in the dialog box.

6. If the program still cannot recognize your CD or DVD writer and you are running on Win9x/Me, please download http://www.dvd-photo-slideshow.com/aspitest.zip and run the ASPI Test program. When you run the "ASPI Test" program, just click the "Registry" and "Yes" button. Please remember to reboot your PC after you run this program.
