Friday’s Fancies::Pretty in Plaid

With the temps dropping it’s time to start layering. There’s nothing I love more than a cozy sweater during winter, especially in Tahoe. Paired with a scarf, sorels and skinny jeans you’re looking at my go-to winter outfit. I’m known to rock a puffy vest from time to time too. Don’t you love the touch of color the plaid scarf brings to the table. Just the type of pop I like!

This weekend we’re wrapping up winter house chores, like painting the new siding and adding a weather seal to the kitchen door. Good times! I’m looking forward to ending the weekend by a cozy fire and glass of wine.

Happy Day — It’s Friday!

It’s going to be a hot one this weekend in Tahoe and I’m looking forward to spending some time cooling of in the lake.

Above pretty much sums up my beach attire. I love to mix and match my bathing suits. How fun are the seahorse bottoms?!

Tahoe isn’t very big so typically I ride my bike to the beach rocking shorts and a cute tank — just in case the girls want to stop for a bite to eat or drink. I never leave home without sunglasses or sunscreen either. Oh and I can’t forget the sandals. I need to add these to my collection — yes collection I own probably 10 pairs of sandals maybe more. You can take the girl out of so cal, but you can’t take so cal out of the girl. I would live in sandals year round if I could.

In my beach bag you’ll find a big bottle of water, chapstick with sunscreen, hat, book, snacks, towel and light weight hoodie — you never know how long you’ll be out.

Friday’s Fancies :: Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!

Happy Friday!!

I don’t know about you, but I was ready for a cocktail on Wednesday. Since this week it’s all about shoes over at Long Distance loving I thought why not talk about shoes that need to be in my closet… plus my birthday is coming up next month the big 3-1… hint,hint.

1. Lucky Brand Covela ankle strap sandal

I’ve noticed a similar pair from Target via instagram from a few ladies. These are a must have staple for summer. I might be running to Target this weekend!

2. Nike Free Running 5.0

With my crazy workout routine, I feel like I could use another pair of running shoes. I’m usually a new balance girl, but I’ve heard great things about the Nike free running shoes. I love these too! There’s something about pink and grey that makes me smile. {size 7}

3. TOMS Canvas Wedge Sandal

I love my TOMS and I would love to add the wedge sandal this year to my line up. They’re great paired with jeans, a dress or skirt… date night, running errands or office. {size 6 1/2}

4. Sam Edelman Leighton flat

Flats in my favorite hue for summer this year. I can picture it now… skinny jeans, white top and a chunky teal necklace. {size 7}

5. Frye Melissa Button Boot

I know we’re moving out of boot weather, but it’s time for a new pair and I’ve been lusting over Frye boots for years. I would love these boots. Ideally I would pair them with skinny jeans, leggings or a summer dress. {size 7}

It’s a simple style type of day — you’ve probably heard that once or twice around these parts

Classic v-neck is a staple in my closet. It’s ok in my book to pair it with a pencil skirt, bold colored flats, and fun necklace. Wear it on a casual date night or work it’s fun, functional and comfortable. Oh and supper cute! Want more polka dots from yours truly, go here and here.

Friday’s Fancies :: Pretty in Pastels

Happy Friday!

Oh it feels so good to say that. Last night I had my first weigh in for my 90 day challenge and I nailed it! If you follow me on instagram you already know some of the results, but check back Monday for a full first month recap full of eating and workout details as well as results.

Yup.. you guessed it we’re carrying on spring finds with Pretty in Pastels. With this outfit I’m ready for a road trip to the coast or maybe a little wine tasting in Napa/Sonoma — girls trip!

Simple top from Splendid paired with white skinny jeans from the gap (I love their pants) and neutral ~~pink~~ flats from Sam Edelman. A road trip isn’t complete without a great pair of sunglasses or tote. Plus, I never leave home without a scarf… you should see my collection I might need AA. Need another pastel fix? It just so happens my Red+Pink was full of pastels. Happy shopping!

Friday’s Fancies :: Spring Fling

Can you believe the first day of Spring was Wednesday — because I can’t! You might have noticed I made some changes to the blog design — there are a few more in the works. I also joined bloglovin’ like most bloggers and added a press page.

And now lets chat all things spring…

When pulling together these outfits I really try to make my picks reflect the way I dress or mood I’m in and today it’s a little of both. I could see all these pieces in high rotation in my closet.

Last year I bought my first pair of TOMS wedges (I actually wore them for my wedding) and would love to add a another pair this year — preferably a fun print (6 1/2 hint, hint). Above is basically how I would rock said wedges. Boyfriend ~~or skinny~~ jeans with a super soft comfy tee/top, statement necklace, watch, simple cross-the-body bag and ray bans. This girl is ready for the weekend!

I’m not Irish, but I do love the color green and in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day we’re talking green today. I threw together a comfortable outfit for a day of shopping Sunday or pub hopping — your choice Right now I’m loving the gap colored skinnies — they come in about every color! Paired with a cozy sweater, lucky charm earrings and the most comfortable and stylist flats on the plant you are ready to attend any town parade, party or bunch with the girls!

Yay… only a few more hours until the three day weekend starts!

I struggled over today’s Friday’s Fancies maybe it’s because I’ve never been a huge fan of red. However, it was a great exercise to push myself to think outside the box and color pallet.

It’s light and fresh with a bold red punch and makes me think of spring. How great is the Marc Jacobs bag! Tory Burch flats make any outfit look great.

Friday’s Fancies :: Lovely Layers

Happy Friday!

This week just flew by! I love it when that happens. Today we’re chatting layers. I’m keeping it simple with a pop of color (top), blazer, jeans and scarf. I just love scarves! I had to stop myself from buying another one at TJ Maxx last weekend I polished off my look with leopard flats from TOMS, kate spade stud earrings and a chunky Fossil watch.

Ahh… I’m looking forward to wine with the ladies tonight. Any fun plans for the weekend.

Friday’s Fancies :: Let’s Hit the Slopes

This week it’s all about hitting the slopes which is something I do often. See here, here and here. You’re in store for a treat! I put together a on and off mountain outfit!

If you’re hitting the town with the ladies or just having drinks slope-side I would rock a little something like this…

sweater / vest / jeans / boots / tote / watch/ scarf

The Sorel riding boots and furry vest are perfect for any mountain getaway. This outfit wouldn’t be complete without a cozy snood and fabulous watch!

If I were headed up the mountain to ski/snowboard I would rock something a little like this…

beanie / goggles / mittens / hemlet / jacket / pants

I love pairing bright colors with neutrals, never leave home without a helmet, mitts or a beanie just incase.
