At the end of the month, I will have lived in Tahoe for 14 years! It’s crazy to imagine what was initially meant to be a winter season turned into a lifetime. I’ve experienced dry winters and epic snowstorms. After last winter I’m crossing my fingers for an average year.

Happy Fall!

The temps are official lower than I like in Tahoe, but that’s ok. I’m talking mid 40’s for the majority of the day, eek. We’re enjoying all things Fall like apple picking and leaf peeping! But with cooler weather comes more layers, cozy jackets and warm fires among other things. While I might not be a fashion blogger I know a thing or two about dressing for Lake Tahoe temps.

Here are my 5 Lake Tahoe Fall Essentials 

A Vest For Layering
I love a good vest for layering over a sweater. Truth be told I have 5 vests, but really only where 3. What can I say I’m a creature of habit. You’ll want a basic quilted vest, puffy and a furry number like the one I’m wearing. Vests are perfect on days that are a bit brisk in the morning, but warmer in the afternoon. It will give you the extra warmth you’re looking for.  I’m currently eying this NAU Ellipsis Down Vest.

Puffy Jack
If you walk around Tahoe for more than 5 minutes you’ll notice the majority of folks are wearing a puffy. Why? Well, my friend because they are super warm and easy to pack. I’ll tell you right now they are also worth the investment. There are only two I recommend the Patagonia Down Sweater Full-Zip Hooded Jacket (it also comes without a hood) and The North Face ThermoBall Full Zip Jacket

A cute pair of Jeans
Trust me ladies leggings aren’t going to cut it. Right now I’m digging Levi’s 721‘s. That’s it

Boots 
While I love my cozy uggs they don’t really cut it when it comes to rain and snow. While Hunter boots seem to be stylish they are not going to keep your feet warm. I suggest investing in a pair of Sorel boots. I’m currently leaning towards these or these!

Mid-weight Sweater
A good sweater is perfect for layering in the morning, but still light enough for warmer afternoons. I recently purchased this Lou & Grey Sweater (FYI, I bought a small so it was a tad oversized) and this Lou & Grey Sweater is sitting in my cart. Call me crazy, but A&F has decent layering sweaters too. This A&F asymmetrical pullover was my favorite purchase last fall! I’m kind of digging this A&F Quilted Sherpa Jacket.

Oh and always pack a scarf! You never know when it might come in handy.

Anyone else ready for spring weather? Better yet summer?! Tahoe’s currently experiencing a Miricle March — aka all the rain and snow. Anyway, it’s not stopping me from buying Emerson all things spring and summer. Girlfriend loves a good dress that twirls. Mom gets major bonus points if there are pockets. I don’t even know why I own a closet full of clothes. It’s partly because I workout more than I should admit and partly because I work from home. Which makes it totally appropriate to wear yoga pants to work. And you best believe I do. It’s totally worth it to invest in fitness apparel and gear.

Trust me I don’t want to rock seethrough pants to the GYM. Here’s the thing, I rotate out pants, tanks, and sports bras often. I update my shoes 1-2 times a year and I always spend gift cards on workout clothes.

So where do I shop for fitness gear and apparel? Everywhere. I love Nordstroms for everything Nike and Zella, Lululemon for shorts and sports bras, Athleta for tops, leggings and sports bras and GAP for tanks – I fricking love their tanks! Regarding shoes, I’m a New Balance and Nike girl when it comes to non-CrossFit shoes and typically just seek out the best price.

For gear, well, Amazon is my go-to one-stop shop — water bottles, food scale, etc.

Good Morning Ladies!

I went hiking yesterday morning and was thinking I need to start talking more about gear I love and flexible eating. Because based on the all the DMs and emails I’ve received lately it sounds like you want more. So moving forward I will do my best to provide more details about gear I’m loving, the best deals of the week and what I’m eating. I guess my next post should be all about macros so you know what I’m talking about, but until then did you see yesterday’s post about creating a healthy eater?

Let’s talk about gear aka athleisure/workout clothes I’m loving because one can never have too many black leggings! While I have my favorite brands I don’t necessarily only buy those brands. I’m always open to trying new brands, styles, etc. but the quality is key.

Good Morning Ladies!

Yup, it’s been decided I’m never going to be a fashion blogger. I’m just a mama trying to find pieces that are simple, stylish and most of all functional. Are you with me? So here I am confessing my lack of style, but talking about style. Ironic, right? Anyway, since recently losing 15 pounds I’ve found that my clothes don’t fit very well. Nice problem to have. With that said, I’m slowing swapping out the old for new. I’m looking to create a minimal, stylish (somewhat) and functional wardrobe. While I would love a capsule wardrobe it doesn’t really work when you have four seasons. So there’s that.

I’m just going to lay it out there it’s not the most fashionable hat, but it’s practical and in my opinion Emerson looks pretty darn cute in it.

It all started at the beach. There’s a group of us who meet at beach, with the kids, every Sunday like clock work. (Nick usually stays home to work on the house.) Two of the kids had Sunday Afternoon hats and after weeks of noticing how they NEVER took them off I knew Emerson needed one.
