When the temps start to dip and the morning runs feel extra crisp, you know what time it is… puffy season! As someone who spends half her life outside—running, mom-ing, hauling gear, chasing sunshine—having layers that are warm, lightweight, and actually cute is a non-negotiable. This year, I’m living in my 32 Degrees outerwear lineup, and it’s honestly checking all the boxes: affordable, warm, great-fitting, and mom-life approved.

So let’s get into my favorite pieces and why they’ve earned a permanent spot in my closet.

1. The Classic Puffy Jacket

If I could only choose one winter layer to wear for the rest of the season, it would be this. The classic 32 Degrees puffy jacket is that perfect everyday staple—warm without the marshmallow vibe, lightweight enough for running errands, and sleek enough to throw over workout gear or jeans.

I wear mine for everything: early school drop-off, post-run warmth, grocery runs, weekend adventures… it just works.

Why I love it:

  • Super warm without bulk
  • Packs down easily
  • Flattering fit (no boxy shoulders!)
  • Price point that doesn’t hurt your soul
2. The Lightweight Vest

I’m a vest girl through and through once we hit December. This one keeps my core warm while giving me full arm mobility—perfect for running, brisk walks, or layering under a heavier coat. It’s also my favorite transition piece for those weird winter days where it’s cold but… not quite cold.

Why it’s a must-have:

  • Ideal for active days
  • Minimalist fit that layers easily
  • Comes in great neutrals
  • Affordable enough to grab more than one
3. The Cozy Sherpa Jacket

If the puffy jacket is my practical go-to, the sherpa jacket is my cozy essential. Think: warm cup of coffee, leggings, school pickup vibes, holiday markets, cozy nights in. It’s that soft, plush layer that feels like you’re wrapped in a hug but still looks put-together.

My favorite parts:

  • Ultra-soft and warm
  • Cute for casual outfits
  • Doesn’t shed like cheaper sherpas
  • Great for layering with tees and hoodies

Why 32 Degrees Wins (Every Time)

I’ve tried a lot of outerwear over the years—running gear, lifestyle jackets, splurge pieces, budget buys. But 32 Degrees consistently hits the sweet spot: quality warmth, great fits, and everyday affordability. As a busy mom and someone who’s outside daily, that combo matters.

Plus, they hold up season after season, wash well, and don’t lose their shape—huge bonus.

Ready to Upgrade Your Winter Layers?

If you’re gearing up for colder days or just want pieces that fit your lifestyle without breaking the bank, you’re going to want to check these out.

Shop my favorite 32 Degrees winter picks HERE.

Trust me—you’ll be reaching for these all season long.

It’s officially puffy season… stay warm, stay comfy, and treat yourself to a jacket (or three).

I love testing out new gear—especially running shoes. IYKYK. Over the last year, I got my hands (well, feet) on three pairs from FLUX: the Adapt Knit TrainerAdapt Runner, and Adapt Trail Runner. After a few months of wearing them for everything from easy runs to cross-training, I have some honest thoughts to share.

Adapt Knit Trainer
Thrifting + Reselling

I started with the FLUX Adapt Knit Trainer, and it immediately stood out from other training shoes. The knit upper molds to your foot like a sock—snug where it should be, flexible where it matters. The best part? The wide toe box. My toes could finally splay naturally instead of feeling cramped. It’s one of those small details that makes a huge difference in comfort and stability.

Adapt Runner

Then came the FLUX Adapt Runner, which has quickly become one of my go-to pairs for shorter runs and recovery days. The zero-drop design and flexible sole encourage a more natural stride, helping my feet and legs engage the way they’re supposed to. It’s lightweight yet supportive enough that I never feel like I’m running barefoot on concrete. It’s that “connected to the ground” feeling—without sacrificing cushioning.

Adapt Trail Runner

For trail days, the FLUX Adapt Trail Runner impressed me just as much. The grip is solid without feeling bulky,. The breathable knit upper kept my feet cool even on warm afternoon climbs. I love that I can transition from the trail to the street without switching shoes. They handle uneven terrain, packed dirt, and even a bit of mud like champs.

What ties all three styles together is that FLUX truly designed them with natural movement and comfort in mind. If you’ve struggled with foot fatigue, tight toe boxes, or shoes that just don’t “feel right,” this lineup is worth checking out.

As someone who runs, lifts, and try to keep up with kids, I want shoes that move with me—not hold me back. The FLUX Adapt collection hits that balance perfectly: minimalist design, maximum comfort, and quality you can feel the first time you lace them up.

I’m linking my favorite FLUX shoes, running gear, and go-to socks. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, the right gear can make a huge difference.

Every once in a while, a brand sneaks into your life and suddenly you realize everyone in your family is wearing it. That’s exactly what happened to us with Native Shoes. I started with a pair of Jeffersons, then grabbed the Miles for my husband, and finally added some slides for those easy, slip-on moments. Now, I don’t think a day goes by where one of us isn’t wearing a pair.

eco-friendly Native Shoes slip-ons
The Jeffersons: My Everyday Go-To

The Jeffersons have become my everyday uniform. They’re lightweight, cushioned, and incredibly easy to clean, which is basically all I need in a shoe right now. A quick wipe after a muddy walk or dusty playground stop, and they look brand new again. I wear them everywhere—school drop-offs, errands, coffee runs, even evening family walks. They don’t pinch, rub, or make me think twice. They’re just reliable, comfortable shoes that let me get on with my day.

The Miles: My Husband’s Favorite

My husband isn’t usually one to care about shoes, but he’s particular about comfort. The Miles slip-ons totally won him over. He wears them with chinos to work, then pairs them with shorts on the weekend. When we traveled last month, they were his main shoe because they’re easy to slip on and off at airport security and comfortable enough for long days exploring. Seeing him reach for them first every morning makes me smile—it’s rare he’s this excited about shoes!

The Slides: The Family Essential

Then there are the slides—our household MVPs. These live by the door and get used constantly. I slip them on to grab the mail, water the plants, or head to the gym. My husband wears them after a run, and even my kiddo loves sliding into them to head out to the backyard. They’re the definition of practical, but somehow they still look pulled together.

lightweight Native Shoes for kids
Why They Work for Us

What really seals the deal is how seamlessly these shoes fit into our everyday life. They’re not fussy, they’re versatile, and they make getting out the door faster. Plus, Native’s focus on sustainability is a huge win for me. Their materials are eco-friendly, and I love knowing that when we’re done with them, we can send them back to be recycled into playground flooring and other projects. It feels good knowing we’re choosing a brand that actually thinks about the planet, too.

Why We’ll Keep Reaching for Them

Between the Jeffersons, the Miles, and the slides, everyone has found their perfect fit. They’re comfortable, easy to wear, easy to clean, and sustainable. Honestly, I can’t think of another shoe brand that checks all those boxes so well. Whether we’re running errands, heading out for family walks, or traveling, these shoes have become a go-to for every part of our day.

As the crisp autumn air rolls in and the leaves start to turn vibrant shades of red and orange, it’s time to refresh your outdoor gear for the season. Whether you’re hiking scenic trails, walking your dog in the forest, or heading out for a weekend adventure, fall calls for versatile, comfortable, and durable essentials. Here are my must-haves for outdoor lovers this fall—gear that will keep you warm, dry, and ready to embrace every moment in nature.

1. KEEN Hiking Boots: Women’s Zionic Waterproof Mid Boot

Fall hiking often means unpredictable weather and trail conditions, making a reliable pair of boots non-negotiable. The KEEN Zionic Waterproof Mid Boot is my go-to. These boots offer excellent traction, keeping you secure on slippery or uneven paths, while the waterproof design ensures your feet stay dry. Plus, their cushioned sole and supportive fit make long hikes a breeze.

Shop KEEN Zionic Hiking Boots at Peltz Shoes and save on fall essentials.

2. Sunday Afternoons Hat: Protection from Sun and Chill

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you should skip the sunscreen—or a good hat! A wide-brim hat from Sunday Afternoons provides sun protection while also keeping your head warm on cooler days. I love how lightweight and packable these hats are, perfect for tossing in your backpack when you hit the trail.

Stay protected and stylish with Sunday Afternoons Hats.

3. Hydro Flask: Insulated Water Bottle

Fall adventures are all about layering up and staying hydrated. The Hydro Flask insulated water bottle is a staple in my pack, keeping my drinks cold for hours or warm when I need a little extra comfort on brisk mornings. Whether you’re taking your dog for a walk or spending a day on the trails, a Hydro Flask is a must.

Grab your Hydro Flask here and make sure you’re never without hydration.

4. Flux Footwear Sneakers: Lightweight and Versatile

For those casual hikes or long walks with the dog, I reach for my Flux Footwear sneakers. These shoes offer a barefoot feel while still providing the support you need for a full day outdoors. They’re perfect for anyone looking for a minimalist shoe that can handle both trail and pavement.

Discover Flux Footwear sneakers for ultimate comfort this fall.

5. The Perfect Backpack

No outdoor adventure is complete without a reliable backpack. Look for something lightweight but durable, with plenty of compartments to organize your essentials—snacks, extra layers, water bottles, and even a camera for those scenic fall views.

6. Sunscreen

Even in the fall, the sun’s UV rays can be harsh, especially when hiking at higher altitudes. I always pack a bottle of reef-safe, eco-friendly sunscreen. It’s lightweight, easy to apply, and won’t clog your pores, which is especially helpful during active outdoor adventures. I love Sun Bum!

7. NuGo Nutrition Bars: Healthy Snacks on the Go

For a quick energy boost during hikes, I always pack a few NuGo Nutrition bars. These bars are perfect for outdoor adventures because they provide a healthy balance of protein and carbs without any of the artificial junk. They’re also easy to store in your backpack and won’t melt, making them a great year-round snack option.

Stock up on NuGo Nutrition bars for your next adventure.

8. Title Nine Leggings

As the temperature drops, layering is key. A pair of Title Nine leggings are perfect for fall outings, whether you’re heading out for a run, a hike, or just lounging by the campfire after a long day. These leggings are durable, moisture-wicking, and offer enough warmth for cool autumn days.

Find your new favorite leggings at Title Nine.

9. A Light Jacket

Fall weather can be unpredictable. A lightweight, packable jacket is essential for layering on chilly mornings and evenings. Look for one that is both windproof and water-resistant, ensuring that you stay comfortable no matter what the weather throws your way.

The right gear can make or break your outdoor experience, especially in the fall when weather conditions can vary throughout the day. Whether you’re hitting the trails for a weekend hike or enjoying a crisp morning walk with your dog, these essentials will keep you comfortable, safe, and ready for any adventure.

Gear Recap:

Gear up, get outside, and enjoy the beauty of fall! And don’t forget to fuel up with my favorite breakfast HERE!

This post is sponsored by Cuddl Duds but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

At the end of the month, I will have lived in Tahoe for 14 years! It’s crazy to imagine what was initially meant to be a winter season turned into a lifetime. I’ve experienced dry winters and epic snowstorms. After last winter I’m crossing my fingers for an average year.

Speaking of winter now is the time to stock up on essentials! You could say over the last few years I’ve acquired a few winter items… ok A LOT! However, that doesn’t mean I don’t like to swap out a few pieces annually.

This year I’m focusing on layering pieces. Obviously, I #liveinlayers.

So what essentials am I loving? Practically everything from Cuddle Duds it also happens that Cuddle Duds are currently  30% off in-store and online at Kohl’s, from 10/24 – 11/6/2019! You know I love a good deal.

THERMALS
First things first, Cuddl Duds buffalo check thermals! While they are mostly meant for wearing under jeans, etc. they also double up as cozy PJs. The leggings even have packets and they are available in an array of colors and prints. You can mix and match or go matchy-matchy like it did. (I’m wearing a small top/bottom)

LEGGINGS
The Cuddl Duds Softwear with Stretch Leggings are cozy and warm whether you wear them alone or layered under jeans. I’m pretty sure it was 40 degrees out when we were walking the dog! And yes you can snag a matching long sleeve. Which pairs perfectly under any puffer. (I’m wearing a small, but would size down in the leggings.)

HOODIE, TUNIC OR VEST
Cuddl Duds carry an array of long sleeve tunics and hoodies to pair with your puffy vest. I don’t know about you, but I rock a puffy vest almost daily during winter months. This is probably one of my favorites from The North Face a few seasons ago.
Whether you live in the mountains or by the beach it’s all about layers during winter months. All I can say is find something you love and can live in 🙂 If you find yourself stocking up on all the Cuddle Duds add one of their cozy blankets! You won’t be disappointed.
Don’t forget, you can snag 30% off Cuddl Duds in-store or online at Kohl’s, from 10/24 – 11/6/2019!

Hey there! Yes, I know it’s been awhile. But life has been a little cray and I feel like I’ve been playing catch up for 3 months. lol. Anyway, don’t worry I survived our crazy winter and promise to check in more often.

I don’t know about you, but it seems like everything is always on sale!  You all know I’m a simple gal who doesn’t spend a lot on clothes. Better yet I’m not a big shopper and really only shop when I need something or it’s finally on sale. What can I say I’m becoming more and more of a minimalist the older I get. With that said, there are a few things I’ve picked up the last few months that are worth mentioning.

WORKOUT CLOTHES
These days I pretty much live in workout clothes. I work from home so unless I have a meeting I wear leggings and a T-shirt. I just purchased these and these from Athleta and highly recommend them! For reference, I wear an XS.

BETTER BEAUTY
Living a healthy life isn’t just about what you eat it’s about the products you use and the people you surround yourself with. This year is about diving head first into everything I’m doing. Aligning with the right people and in this case the right company. I’ve been using Beautycounter for the last 2+ years so it just seemed like a natural fit. I have a number of favorite products, but my top 3 include the Charcoal Cleansing Bar, Brilliant Brow Gel, and Dew Skin Moisturizing Coverage. Let me know if you have any questions. Don’t worry a more in-depth post is in the works with my WHY, etc.

TARGET
Let me count the ways I love Target. I really wish it wasn’t 25+ miles away. Either way, I make the most of it when I go and know I’m not alone. Emerson pretty much grew overnight so we grabbed these 5T jeggings. All the home stuff is currently on sale and I’m eying this curtain rod, this floating shelf, and this Metal Mesh & Faux Wood Patio Set.

AMAZON
Just being basic and ordering all the things from Amazon. HAHA. Anyway, I recently reordered my favorite Noniko Natural Deodorant. I finally bought Kintsugi Wellness: The Japanese Art of Nourishing Mind, Body, and Spirit! The hubs bought a few new “fishing” items and I currently have this flamingo sweatshirtThe Mind-Gut Connection: How the Hidden Conversation Within Our Bodies Impacts Our Mood, Our Choices, and Our Overall Health book and Round Wall Mirror sitting in my cart.

Just a few of the things I’ve purchased over the last few months. But I want to know what you’re loving and can’t live without?!

Happy Fall!

The temps are official lower than I like in Tahoe, but that’s ok. I’m talking mid 40’s for the majority of the day, eek. We’re enjoying all things Fall like apple picking and leaf peeping! But with cooler weather comes more layers, cozy jackets and warm fires among other things. While I might not be a fashion blogger I know a thing or two about dressing for Lake Tahoe temps.

Here are my 5 Lake Tahoe Fall Essentials

Vest For Layering
I love a good vest for layering over a sweater. Truth be told I have 5 vests, but really only where 3. What can I say I’m a creature of habit. You’ll want a basic quilted vest, puffy and a furry number like the one I’m wearing. Vests are perfect on days that are a bit brisk in the morning, but warmer in the afternoon. It will give you the extra warmth you’re looking for.  I’m currently eying this NAU Ellipsis Down Vest.

Puffy Jack
If you walk around Tahoe for more than 5 minutes you’ll notice the majority of folks are wearing a puffy. Why? Well, my friend because they are super warm and easy to pack. I’ll tell you right now they are also worth the investment. There are only two I recommend the Patagonia Down Sweater Full-Zip Hooded Jacket (it also comes without a hood) and The North Face ThermoBall™ Full Zip Jacket

A cute pair of Jeans
Trust me ladies leggings aren’t going to cut it. Right now I’m digging Levi’s 721‘s. That’s it 🙂

Boots
While I love my cozy uggs they don’t really cut it when it comes to rain and snow. While Hunter boots seem to be stylish they are not going to keep your feet warm. I suggest investing in a pair of Sorel boots. I’m currently leaning towards these or these!

Mid-weight Sweater
A good sweater is perfect for layering in the morning, but still light enough for warmer afternoons. I recently purchased this Lou & Grey Sweater (FYI, I bought a small so it was a tad oversized) and this Lou & Grey Sweater is sitting in my cart. Call me crazy, but A&F has decent layering sweaters too. This A&F asymmetrical pullover was my favorite purchase last fall! I’m kind of digging this A&F Quilted Sherpa Jacket.

Oh and always pack a scarf! You never know when it might come in handy.

There you have it, folks, my key essentials for fall in Lake Tahoe!

Hey, Mamas!

Anyone else ready for spring weather? Better yet summer?! Tahoe’s currently experiencing a Miricle March — aka all the rain and snow. Anyway, it’s not stopping me from buying Emerson all things spring and summer. Girlfriend loves a good dress that twirls. Mom gets major bonus points if there are pockets. She’s a girl after my own heart.

So I rounded up 9 dresses that are perfect for spring and summer.

Calling all Target Shoppers… I rounded up 9 things you might want to snag from Target right now. Let’s face it because Target is awesome and they are still slaying it!

1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9

So let’s break it down a little further. Instant Pot seemed to be the IT kitchen gadget of 2017. Did you by one? Guess what I didn’t either, but I still want one and this cookbook to go with it. I also can’t make up my mind about an Airfryer. Do you have one? Are they worth it?

#TargetStyle! Come on, everything is so cute right now. I purchased the Free People knockoffs when they first came out and LOVE them. I wear them all the time and receive so many compliments. Universal Threads also has a number of basic tops to help transition to spring. Oh and the dresses! This one is in my cart!

You can’t leave target without browsing all things home decor. After 8 years we still don’t have patio furniture etc. Well, things are changing this summer! I think some outdoor lights would be a nice touch.

I’m still on the hunt for the perfect area rug and while the above rug might not work in my house I think someone should totally pick it up.

Anyway, I didn’t even scratch the surface. Until next time…

What did you recently purchase and Target that’s amazing?

Moving from Southern California to Lake Tahoe nearly eight years ago was an adjustment. I quickly learned how to train outside during the winter. Today between November and April I split up runs between the treadmill and outside. My rule of thumb — if the snow is flying it’s a treadmill day. Let’s be honest I’m probably snowboarding instead.

Today I’m sharing what I look for when buying winter running gear. Plus, a few of my favorite pieces.

1. A good pair of shoes. If you don’t like your shoes then you probably wont last long. The Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra CS WP Trail Running Shoe is a great place to start. There are a few key components that make these great for running on snowy/wet trails/roads:

  • ClimaShield
membrane — waterproof and breathable. Ideal balance of weather protection and breathability.
  • Molded EVA,
EVA shaped footbeds, and Ortholite technology supply solid comfort, support,
and cushioning while you push it on the trail. Solid traction on uneven and sketchy terrain.
  • Protective
rubber toe caps, mud guards, and gusseted tongues protect your feet from trail
    debris.

Along with shoes you’ll want a nice pair of warm socks. I personally like Smartwool and own a variety for different activities i.e., snowboarding, walking the dog, snowshoeing, etc. Please note I’m not a fan or advocate of running on ice. Trust me your knees will thank you later.

2. Cold weather tights. Sorry normal running tights wouldn’t cut it. Remember I said I’m in the mountains. Which means it’s probably 30-40 degrees or colder outside. I tend to gravitate towards The North Face, but love these Patagonia tights. This is a personal preference because of fit, but you can’t go wrong with any winter running tight from The North Face, Under Armour or Patagonia. I suggest trying on a few pairs.

3. A warm jacket that isn’t bulky. You’ll want a few jackets for different temps and distances. This season I bought the The North Face Women’s Animagi Jacket. So far so good. When buying a winter running jacket I always look for something lightweight, breathable and wind proof. Tip: wind chill can drop the temp by 10 degrees sometimes!

4. Don’t skip on layers. One layer is typically good. The North Face, Patagonia and Under Armour are my go to layers for winter running. Look for layers that are form fitting, moister wicking and breathable.

5. Accessories. Think gloves, headband, ear warmers, beanie or neck gator (optional). Depending on the person and distance you many not wear these items the entire run, but trust me you’ll want them. The ear band is your best option. It will keep your ears warm without overheating.

Although gear options are endless the key is finding pieces that work well for you, your climate and budget. These are just a few items that I couldn’t live without during the winter. Over the years I’ve bought off and name brand running gear and have found it’s worth spending a little more on gear. They just seem to last longer as well as fit and perform better.

Happy Running.
