{Happy 100<\/span><\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/span> post to my little blog, it took awhile but we got there! After much delay here\u2019s my little write up from last weekend in SF.}<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>A few weeks ago my sister called to inform me about a feature she landed for <\/span><\/span><\/span>Bloom Spot<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. The deal was a $35 <\/span><\/span><\/span>(normally $65)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i> entry to the Save <\/span><\/span><\/span>Angel Island Wine<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> Festival hosted by <\/span><\/span><\/span>Vino Moda<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Britt then called back and asked if I was interested in volunteering at the event, before I could even buy a ticket. Volunteer for a wine event, sign me up.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>A little info:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/i> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Angel Island State Park<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> is located in the <\/span><\/span><\/span>San Francisco<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> Bay<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> and is only accessible by boat. When on the island you can enjoy views such as <\/span><\/span><\/span>Golden Gate Bridge<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span><\/span><\/span>Alcatraz<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, and of course the <\/span><\/span><\/span>San Francisco skyline<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>During the mid-nineteenth century the U.S. Navy took possession of the island and occupied it from the Civil War until the Cold War. Today military barracks still stand. Angel Island was k<\/span><\/span><\/span>nown as the ” <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ellis Island<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> of the West,\u201d and processed millions of immigrants from 1910 to 1940. Today the island is a beautiful state park which offers a variety of activities for visitors.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Save Angel Island :<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b> With all the state cut backs many State Parks are <\/span><\/span><\/span>near closure<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> due to lack of  <\/span><\/span><\/span>funding. Saturday, May 1<\/span><\/span><\/span>st<\/span><\/span><\/span> 2010 Vino Moda held the \u201cSave Angel Island Wine Festival\u201d to help raise money and create awareness. Roughly 900 people came out in support. 50 wineries donated not only wine, but their time. Britt and I poured for <\/span><\/span><\/span>Cosentino Winery<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> which  offered<\/span><\/span><\/span>  <\/span><\/span><\/span>the 2007 Cosentino Chardonnay, 2007 <\/span><\/span><\/span>The Novelist, and 2005 Cosentino Cabernet Sauvignon(my fav being The Novelist, perfect on a nice spring \/summer day). Believe it or not I even tried the pulled pork sandwich from Big Jim\u2019s BBQ\u2026delicious! With good food, music, wine, weather and an amazing cause you couldn\u2019t have asked for way to spend the <\/span><\/span><\/span>day in San Francisco<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> . <\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
