\nWell we’ve been busy bees again
\nworking on the house and DIYing for the wedding. Remember when I blogged about DIY details here<\/a>, well the tiered cupcake stand is
\ndone! <\/p>\n

\nThose who know us well know we have a
\nplethora of wood rounds drying in our backyard at all times. With that said, we
\nheaded out to the yard and picked out what we thought were the best looking
\nrounds.  <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nNick
\nthen went to town cutting the rounds into smaller 1″ to 3″ thick rounds
\nwith his trusty chainsaw.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\neye-ware, ear plugs, chaps and footwear) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n
\n Once Nick
\ncut about 10 -13 new rounds I gave them a light sanding, but left them looking
\nnatural. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nSince we didn’t want a lacquer finish
\nwe only applied one light coat of tung oil.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHere’s what they looked like after
\none coat. (not completely dry) <\/span><\/div>\n
\n <\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nNext we picked 3 different size
\nrounds to create a tiered look.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nUsing an aspen branch and chop-saw
\nNick made some “legs” for height.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nOnce the legs were cut we placed them between the rounds, made some marks and started drilling pilot holes for screws.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAfter about 3-4 hours (including dry
\ntime)<\/span> our rustic DYI cupcake stand looked a little like this! Since we already had
\neverything it cost us $0 and little hard work and determination.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nWe can’t wait to see what it looks
\nlike covered with cupcakes in only 18 days! I can’t believe it. The plan is to use the remaining rounds as centerpiece stands. Did you DYI
