Either way, I can’t believe it’s already September! There’s no escaping it and you can definitely feel it in Tahoe. Crisp morning air, pine needles everywhere and open trails. Fall in Tahoe is amazing. <\/div>\n

\nAnyway, today I wanted to talk about food — actually an amazing food event at Feast Portland<\/a>. In less than two weeks the hubby and I will be heading to Portland, Oregon for Feast Portland<\/a>! One of the various events I plan on attending is the Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting Presented by Alaska Airlines<\/a>. Since this is my first grand tasting at Feast Portland I figured why not ask the experts about the event. Lucky you I’m sharing some insider tips form one of the event’s founders, Carrie Welch<\/a>.<\/div>\n

\nThe Oregon Bounty
\nGrand Tasting is a foodie’s dream, but could be overwhelming at the same time.
\nWhere do you suggest beginning? <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nCW: Yes the
\nOregon Bounty Grand Tasting Presented by Alaska Airlines<\/a> is overwhelming, in
\nthe best way! However, it is also one of our most laid back, relaxed events as
\nyou are outside in one of Portland’s historic landmarks, Pioneer Courthouse
\nSquare, literally in the center of the city, enjoying all the state has to
\noffer in terms of food and drink.<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/p>\n

\nStart out by getting the lay of the land – you have tasting
\ntents to your right, KitchenAid Stage with cooking demonstrations to your left,
\nand even up top above the steps, there are more tasting areas from our partners
\nlike Whole Foods Market and Bon Appetit. You can also find some crazy good
\nwines up there, so don’t miss it!<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

At big events like these, I like to do a lap before I commit
\nto a location. That way, you can plan your drinks, your bites, what demo you’re
\ngoing to see and what you’re going to be sure to go back to. I’d grab a taste
\nof wine or beer while I’m doing this, just to get the party started a bit. Walk
\naround the upper tasting areas, catch that demo from one of our top chefs, and
\nthen, when you are ready, hit the tasting tents in all their glory. There is so
\nmuch to choose from – we have every artisan from honey to peanut butter to
\nvegan cupcakes this year – so go for it and trust that everyone there is going
\nto be very good!<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n

\nincredible breweries, wineries, artisans, etc. Who do you feel are the hidden

\nCW: There are so
\nmany! In the artisan category, I love Eliot’s Adult Nut Butters – they are
\nabsolutely delicious suped up peanut butters with wild flavors; Mariam Foods –
\ntheir Ethiopian dips are a great switch up to hummus; and Red Wagon Creamery –
\nout of Eugene, their ice cream will put you in a dreamlike state.<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n

\nOn the winery and brewery front, we aim to provide both up
\nand comers and established names. So you’ll see your favorites like BridgePort
\nand Hopworks beer, but have you tried Gilgamesh Brewing out of Salem? Same on
\nwine – we have Soter, King Estate and Erath, who you know, as well as urban
\nwinery Division Winemaking Company and Hawks View Cellars out of Sherwood, who
\nyou might not!<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n

\nwhole vibe of the cooking demonstrations – people coming together over food,
\nsharing tips and knowledge, you can’t beat it! Chef Jenn Louis of Lincoln and
\nSunshine Tavern restaurants here in Portland is a wonderful teacher and her
\ndemos are always packed with great information. I also enjoy Sarah Simmons, who
\nhosts a pop up in NYC called City Grit. She’s new to our demo lineup so I’m
\nexcited to see what she’ll do on stage.<\/span><\/span><\/i>

\nis something for everyone – if you like wine, you can taste wine and pair it
\nwith great food all day long. If beer is your thing, there are tons of ways you
\ncan experience it. If you just want to eat and eat some more, and watch the
\nnation’s best chefs create recipe magic, then sit back, relax and grab a step.
\nThere’s an awesome feeling of togetherness at the event that, to me, is
\nunmatched. You feel like you’re a part of this incredible food movement and
\nthat’s exciting.<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n
